The Journey
AROMAS (Itinerarium Salutis - "Journey of Health") explores Europe's heritage of aromatic and medicinal plants - cultivation, traditional uses, pharmaceutical development, and cultural significance.
The route connects medicinal plant gardens, monastic herb gardens, essential oil distilleries, perfume heritage sites, and regions known for aromatic plant cultivation (Provence lavender, Bulgarian roses, Mediterranean herbs).
Sites explore traditional botanical knowledge, the history of herbal medicine and pharmacy, essential oil production, perfumery, aromatherapy, and the preservation of plant genetic diversity. The route promotes sustainable plant use and cultural heritage.
