The Journey

The Réseau Art Nouveau Network celebrates the Art Nouveau movement that flourished across Europe from roughly 1890 to 1910. This artistic style emphasized organic forms, flowing lines, natural motifs, and integration of arts and crafts. The network includes cities renowned for Art Nouveau architecture: Brussels (Horta), Paris (Guimard), Vienna (Secession), Barcelona (Gaudí), Prague, Riga, Nancy, Glasgow, and many others. Sites feature distinctive buildings, interiors, decorative arts, posters, and jewelry. Art Nouveau reflected modern aspirations - embracing new materials (iron, glass), new social needs (department stores, metro stations), and the desire to create a "total work of art" integrating architecture, furniture, and decoration.
