ATRIUM examines architecture built under totalitarian regimes across 20th-century Europe.
The Journey
ATRIUM connects architectural and urban heritage from totalitarian regimes of the 20th century - fascist, nazi, and communist. These monuments, buildings, and urban plans served propaganda, social control, and ideological messaging.
Sites include EUR in Rome (Mussolini-era), buildings from Nazi Germany, Stalinist architecture in Moscow and across Eastern Europe, and memorials to victims of totalitarianism.
The route promotes critical engagement with difficult heritage - understanding how architecture served authoritarian power while transforming these sites into spaces for democratic education, memory, and reflection on the past.
