The Journey

The Routes of El legado andalusí celebrate the legacy of Al-Andalus - the Islamic civilization that flourished in the Iberian Peninsula from 711 to 1492 CE. At its peak, Al-Andalus was a center of learning, tolerance, and artistic achievement. The routes connect monuments including the Alhambra (Granada), the Great Mosque of Córdoba, the Giralda (Seville), Medina Azahara, and numerous alcázares, fortresses, gardens, and medinas across southern Spain. Themes include Islamic architecture and art, the convivencia (coexistence) of Muslim, Christian, and Jewish cultures, scientific and philosophical achievements, irrigation systems, and the lasting influence of Al-Andalus on Spanish culture.
